Void Content Apparatus – Coarse Aggregate

The void content apparatus – coarse aggregate determines the void content of un-compacted coarse aggregate samples. Graduation and void content data provide an indication of angularity, sphericity and surface texture. Results conclude to permanent deformation and fatigue of cracking asphalt. The test recommends evaluating aggregates for hot-mix asphalt pavement.

Aggregate samples free fall from the hopper into a cylindrical measure. Once excess aggregate has been struck off, the mass is measured and the void content is computed.
