The large direct shear machine designed to measure the total resistance to shear of large, 12″ square soil samples or within a soil/geosynthetic specimen. The machine uses the CONBEL® system for loading the samples. The soil specimens mounted in a two piece shear ring assembly, divided in half horizontally. The bottom half securely held in place and a vertical confining force applied. Horizontal force directed against the upper half of the ring to shear the specimen.
The large direct shear machine capable of applying maximum piston loads of 10,000lbf and 20,000lbf. Ruggedly designed for harsh lab environments. Casters on the machine and compaction table make for easy portability in the lab. The compaction table, top and bottom of the shear rings, software, and data cable included. A 120psi source of clean, dry compressed air required for operation.
