Draindown Basket
The draindown basket test effectively measures the amount of asphalt binder that separates from a sample held at elevated temperatures encountered in production, transport, and placement. The test works with Stone Matrix Asphalt (SMA) or open-graded porous asphalt mixtures.
A sample goes into the basket and then into a forced-air oven on a pre-weighed paper plate for one hour. The portion that separates itself from the sample and deposited onto the plate outside the basket becomes the draindown measurement.
Features:
- Each basket measures 4.25″H x 5.5″Dia. and has a 1″ bottom skirt
- Optimal for measuring asphalt binder that separates from un-compacted bituminous mixes
- Ideal for SMA or open-graded porous asphalt mixtures
- Constructed of ASTM E11 stainless steel
- Bail-type handles for easy handling
