The Calcium Carbonate Content Chamber, or Rapid Carbonate Analyzer, determines the presence and amount of calcium carbonate (CaCO3) in soil specimens. This simple and fast test reveals the presence and amount of calcium carbonate in marine soil samples extracted as the percent calcite equivalent.
Within the sealed 2.5 x 5.5in clear acrylic chamber, hydrochloric acid is added to a 1g soil sample. The chamber tilts and shakes, producing carbon dioxide gas from the reaction between the acid and carbonate in the soil specimen.
