Calcium Carbonate Content Chamber
The Calcium Carbonate Content Chamber, also known as a Rapid Carbonate Analyzer, determines the presence and amount of calcium carbonate (CaCO3) in soil specimens. This simple and fast test is used as an index to the presence and amount of calcium carbonate in marine soil samples extracted as the percent calcite equivalent.
Within the sealed 2.5 x 5.5in (63.5 x 140mm) IDxH clear acrylic chamber, a 1g soil sample is treated with hydrochloric acid (HCI). The chamber is tilted and agitated, producing carbon dioxide gas from the reaction between the acid and carbonate in the soil specimen, and the pressure results are measured.
This unit comes with a pressure gauge, 303 stainless steel end caps with synthetic rubber O-Rings, a bleed valve, and a 20mL soil/acid container with bail type handle.
