Slake Durability Apparatus
The slake durability apparatus determines abrasion resistance by simulating weather-related wetting and drying cycles. Samples go into 5.5″ dia. x 3.9″ high wire mesh drums and rotate at 20 RPM within the 11.5″ x 8.5″ x 7.5″ water tanks. The samples then oven dry for two cycles. The percent sample loss after subsequent wetting and drying cycles determines the slake durability index.
The apparatus features a 4 foot long base and comes equipped with a double-ended motor drive unit. It also includes two water tank and drum assemblies but can accommodate up to four assemblies for increased testing.
