The Windsor Probe System determines the compressive strength of in-place concrete. The non-destructive system is used on both fresh and mature concrete, either horizontally or vertically. The system rapidly and accurately determines the concrete compressive strength of a structure by driving a probe into the concrete with a known amount of force. It is capable of measuring concrete with a maximum compressive strength of 17,000 PSI. The system also comes equipped with an electronic measuring unit to help ensure proper test results.
High-performance concrete that has a strength up to 17,000 psi (110 MPa) uses silver probes. Constructed of a high strength alloy and heat treated, the probes achieve a hardness of Rockwell C 48. In addition, the specially machined probes eliminate stress concentrations. Light-weight concrete uses gold probes because they have a 56% greater cross-sectional area than the silverss than 125 lbs/cu. ft. in density).
